For this life, e get one thing wey old men for my village dey always talk — “You fit run pass your shadow, but you no fit run pass God time.” This na true story, and the Bible don show us many examples. Make I tell you how God take use Him own time arrange the life of some great people for Bible, the same way we dey wait for tide to rise before we paddle go river.
Abraham – The Man Wey Wait Tire
Make I start with Papa Abraham. God tell am say, “I go give you pikin, your children go plenty pass sand for beach.” But my brother, the thing no happen sharp-sharp. E wait sotey he begin old like my grandfather wey dey catch fish with net wey dem patch hundred times. Na at 100 years old the pikin, Isaac, come. You see? If na man time, Abraham for don give up. Joseph – From Pit to Palace
Joseph own story be like film. Him own brothers sell am, he land for prison because woman lie say he do bad thing. But he no complain. He just dey trust God. Na so, one day like that, king call am to interpret dream. From prisoner, Joseph become second-in-command for Egypt. If Joseph no go through that waiting time, he no go fit manage food for the famine wey later come. Na God use that time train am.
Moses – 40 Years for Back of Bush
Moses grow for palace but run go bush after he kill Egyptian. For 40 years, he dey inside desert dey follow goat and sheep waka. Person fit think say his own don finish. But na that desert time God use prepare him. When time reach, God call am for burning bush. Na so him become leader wey carry Israel comot from Egypt. God's time no dey rush, but e sure.
David – Anointing First, Crown Later
David na small boy wey dey look after sheep when Samuel pour oil for him head. But he no become king immediately. He run from King Saul, hide for cave, even pretend like mad man for foreign land. But God no forget am. When the right time reach, David sit down for throne. The time wey pass teach am humility, fight, patience — all na part of king training.
Jesus – E Come When Time Done Ripe
The Messiah, Jesus Christ, no just appear anyhow. Bible talk say He come “when time done full.” Even after e born, he wait till 30 years before he start him ministry. E no rush. Everything wey he do — from miracle to cross — na perfect timing. Even the day wey he die coincide with Passover — all na divine calendar.
Hannah – Delay No Be Denial
Mama Hannah cry tire for pikin. Every year she dey go Shiloh go pray. People mock her, laugh her, but she no give up. When God say "now," she born Samuel — the prophet wey anoint kings. The delay pain her, yes, but the joy come overflow when the time ripe.
Paul – Chosen but Hidden
When Jesus appear to Paul for road to Damascus, the man blind. Later, he regain sight and begin serve God. But he no jump go stage immediately. He go desert, stay quiet, learn, and grow. Years later, na him turn to apostle wey shake the world with message of grace.
The Moral for We Life
My brother, my sister, if God never answer your prayer, no mean say Him forget you. Sometimes, na preparation dey go on. Na the same way we dey wait for dry season to end before we plant cassava. If you go ahead of God, you go spoil the harvest.
God time fit slow for eye, but e sure pass any clock wey man fit build. The people wey wait for God, e always make their ending sweet.
So, if you dey wait, hold on. E go reach your turn. And when that time come — e go be like miracle wey sweet pass fresh fish pepper soup for evening breeze by the river.
