DHS reports a Little Village shooting occurred during a Border Patrol immigration sweep Saturday. A Chicago cop who responded got hurt by a vehicle.
CHICAGO (WLS) -- Someone shot at Customs and Border Patrol agents on Chicago's Southwest Side, the Department of Homeland Security reported. A Chicago cop who responded got hurt during the incident, officials reported.
The incident happened as federal agents started several operations Saturday in the Little Village neighborhood as part of Operation Midway Blitz taking at least two people into custody.

In a post on X, DHS reported that agents were working near 26th Street and Kedzie Avenue in Little Village when the shooting occurred.
A furious crowd formed after a federal officer held a young woman close to 26th and Kedzie.
Border Patrol Commander Greg Bovino was present. People could see him in a cellphone video holding what looked like a tear gas canister.
Locals chased their caravan asking for the release of the detained woman.
During this time, DHS claims an unknown man in a black Jeep shot at agents and left . DHS also said "an unknown number of troublemakers" threw a paint can and bricks at Border Patrol vehicles.
