Trump criticizes MTG for 'some kind of act'

Trump said the three-term lawmaker, a former supporter, is "playing to the other side."

President Donald Trump on Monday criticized Georgia GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a former ally who has grown more outspoken against the president in recent months.

"I'm not sure what's going on with Marjorie," he told reporters at an Oval Office press conference. "She's a good person. But I don't understand what's happening, I think she's lost her way."

Greene spoke out against Republican tactics during the government shutdown. She criticized party leaders for not paying enough attention to healthcare while Democrats tried but failed to extend Affordable Care Act subsidies that were about to end.

Trump replied to a question about a Monday social media post from the three-term lawmaker. In her post, she said: "I would like to see nonstop meetings at the WH on domestic policy not foreign policy and foreign country's leaders."

The president welcomed Syrian leader Ahmed Al-Sharaa to the White House on Monday. This visit was part of his efforts to promote diplomacy in the Middle East and improve ties with Damascus. It happened almost a year after Al-Sharaa's forces overthrew authoritarian leader Bashar Assad.

"I need to see the presidency as a global matter, not just a local one," Trump said. "A bad president could lead to a world in flames, with wars reaching our shores ."

Greene has also pushed the White House to share more details about the files linked to dead sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. She joins several Republicans who signed a petition to force a floor vote on releasing these files. In July, she went against the GOP mainstream by pointing out the "genocide humanitarian crisis and starvation" in Gaza claiming Israel was committing genocide.

Trump said she's "now appealing to the other side."

"When someone like Marjorie starts saying things like that, it shows she lacks knowledge," he stated.

Greene's office didn't right away reply to a request for comment.
