Several hurt taken to hospital after incident in Huntingdon, say Cambridgeshire police


Police have arrested two people after several individuals were stabbed on a train headed to a Cambridgeshire town.


Several people went to the hospital after the incident, according to Cambridgeshire police.


British Transport Police (BTP) officers showed up at the scene in Huntingdon on Saturday.


The force posted on X: "We're now responding to an incident on a train to Huntingdon where several people have been stabbed.


"Our officers are there along with CambsCops and we've arrested two people."


Huntingdon station has shut down, National Rail reports, with all lines now blocked.


London North Eastern Railway (LNER), which runs east coast main line services in the UK, asks passengers not to travel due to "major disruption".


LNER states: "We face major disruption across the LNER route. Emergency services are handling an incident at Huntingdon station, all lines are blocked.


"We advise: 'Do Not Travel'. Please postpone your trip if possible."


The company adds: "We know about an incident involving one of our trains. Our main concern right now is for the well-being of our customers and crew on board.


"We're gathering all the details we can and talking to British Transport Police."


Keir Starmer said the event in Huntingdon caused deep concern.


In a post on X, the prime minister said: "The awful event on a train near Huntingdon causes deep concern.


"I'm thinking of everyone affected, and I thank the emergency services for their response.


"People in the area should follow the police's advice
