Beginning in 2026, P&G appoints a new CEO.

On July 28, Procter & Gamble declared that Shailesh Jejurikar, 58, its chief operating officer, would take over as its next leader on January 1. The 61-year-old CEO of the Cincinnati-based consumer goods behemoth since 2021, Jon Moeller, will take on the role of executive chairman and "serve at the pleasure of the Board of Directors." He began as a cost analyst in 1988 and has been with the company for almost 40 years. He was born in Chicago. In 1989, Jejurikar began working for P&G, a Cincinnati-based company, as an assistant brand manager for personal care products in India. Since 2021, he has served as the chief operating officer. Prior to that, from 2019 to 2021, he oversaw several of P&G's most recognisable brands as CEO of Global Fabric and Home Care: Gain, Febreze, Tide, Ariel, Downy,

With significant contributions across several businesses and in both developed and developing regions, Shailesh has been a crucial member of P&G's leadership team. In a statement, P&G's lead director on the board, Joe Jimenez, said, "He has continuously produced excellent outcomes in the businesses and markets he has led." According to a government disclosure from P&G, Jejurikar would receive $1.6 million in salary annually in addition to up to $3.2 million in incentive pay. According to the filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Jejurikar has also been granted a $14 million long-term incentive award by the company's board.

He holds an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management-Lucknow and a degree in economics from Mumbai University. Durk Jager, who served as CEO from 1999 to 2000 and was born in the Netherlands, was the only non-American company leader aside from the company's founders, William Procter, who was born in England, and James Gamble, who was born in Ireland.

In October, Jejurikar will also run for office on the company's board of directors. Procter & Gamble is restructuring and laying off employees. The leadership change follows P&G's announcement, made in response to declining sales, that it would restructure its business by eliminating 7,000 office jobs. The business predicted in April that its organic sales growth, which does not include the effects of foreign exchange, acquisitions, and divestitures, would increase by a pitiful 2% for the fiscal year that ended on June 30. This would be the lowest growth since 2018.

The biggest consumer goods corporation in the world, P&G is headquartered in the downtown area and is in charge of producing the toiletries that people keep in their medicine cabinets or pantries, including Gillette razors, Pampers nappies, Tide laundry detergent, and Crest toothpaste. Ten thousand of the company's 108,000 employees worldwide are located in Greater Cincinnati.
