January 6th, pardoned Rioter Accused of Making Threats Jeffries, Hakeem
As of right now, Christopher Moynihan of New York seems to be the only rioter to be charged with a crime against an elected official once more. Last week, a man from upstate New York who was pardoned by President Trump for his involvement in the Capitol attack on January 6, 2021, was charged with a new crime: threatening to kill House Democratic leader Representative Hakeem Jeffries during a New York City event. According to a criminal complaint filed by local prosecutors in Dutchess County, New York, the man, Christopher P. Moynihan, 34, threatened Mr. Jeffries's life in text messages he sent to an unidentified associate on Friday.
In a few days, Hakeem Jeffries will give a speech in New York City. According to the complaint, Mr. Moynihan stated, "I cannot allow this terrorist to live." "He must be removed, even if I am despised. For the sake of the future, I will kill him. On Monday, Mr. Jeffries made an appearance to speak at the Manhattan-based Economic Club of New York. Mr. Moynihan seems to be the only rioter who has been charged with an offence against an elected official thus far, even though other pardoned rioters have been arrested again after the president granted clemency.
