The Heist at the Louvre

 The Heist at the Louvre

Today, we examine the methods and motivations behind the heinous daylight robbery that occurred in Paris this past weekend. On Sunday, while visitors were looking at artwork, thieves broke into the Louvre. Jewellery allegedly worth incalculable amounts was taken by them. My coworkers have been covering one of the most spectacular heists of the century, including how the thieves accomplished it, why they did it, and whether there are any precedents for such a heinous break-in. What we know is as follows.

How they accomplished it utilizing a truck, a disc cutter, a ladder, and a few scooters.

The robbers parked a truck beneath the Apollo Gallery's windows at 9:30 a.m. From the back of the truck, they then ascended an electric ladder. (This truck-mounted ladder, known as a monte-meubles, may appear strange or suspicious to non-French people, but it's actually quite common in Parisian streets, where it's used to lift heavy furniture through apartment windows.)
