Chad Michael Murray lost half of his blood and almost died as a teenager.
Over the years, Chad Michael Murray has played many iconic roles, but he almost didn't get to because he nearly died as a teenager. The actor opened up about his near-death experience at the age of 15 while on a press tour for the new film "Freakier Friday."
On the "Great Company" podcast, Murray opened up to host and reality star Jamie Laing, explaining that he was bleeding internally after his intestines became twisted.
Murray claims that during his more than two months in the hospital, he underwent surgery and experienced intermittent unconsciousness.
According to CMM, he was "on [his] deathbed" and had lost half of his blood. Murray claims that before his nurse Sandy gave him a blood transfusion to save his life, he saw his father discussing last rites with a priest. His weight decreased from 180 to 118 pounds during his hospital stay.
A few years later, Murray was cast in television series such as "Dawson's Creek," "Gilmore Girls," and, of course, "One Tree Hill" and "Freaky Friday."
Since he claims he doesn't want to wind up in the hospital like that again, Chad acknowledges that he's all about clean living these days—no alcohol, healthy eating. Murray seems to have struck it lucky, as did his millions of admirers.
